 Cabrera close to signing with the Reds for $3 M
RedsVarious sources are reporting that Free Agent SS Orlando Cabrera is very close to becoming a Red. Cabrera will be penciled in at SS for the Reds. He reportedly picked the Reds over the Rockies and Nats because he wanted to remain at SS. The Rockies would have placed Cabrera at 2nd while the Nats were looking for a middle infielder.

RedsYahoo sports is reporting Cuban left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman, whose defection sparked a bidding war among major league teams that coveted his 100-mph fastball, agreed Sunday morning to sign for $30 million with a National League team, according to a source close the negotiations.

RedsThe Daytona Daily News is reporting Time is fast disappearing for teams to make trades that will not only help them down the stretch, but help them if they make the playoffs.

For a player to be eligible for the postseason, he must be on that team’s roster by Sept. 1, little more than a week away.

One of the names floating out there is Reds pitcher Aaron Harang and he is ready either way, stay or go.
