The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting The Cleveland Indians had been attempting to get outfielder Shin-Soo Choo(notes) to sign a long-term deal in order to avoid arbitration at season's end, but it's looking like no such thing is going to happen, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The Indians supposedly wanted the 27-year-old to sign a five-year deal with a team option for a sixth year, but Choo apparently likes his chances for a better deal at year's end.
And if the seven-year veteran can improve on the 20 homers, 86 RBIs, and 175 hits he had last year, he may be right.
He went hitless in his first game this year.
