Mets Trade Rumors
![]() New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez got himself into a heap of trouble when he took a fist to the grandfather of his young twins while in the Mets shiny new stadium. He got himself arrested, suspended from the team for two days without pay, and hurt his thumb so badly, it needs season-ending surgery for a torn ligament. ![]() NEW YORK -- Outfielder Jason Bay continues to feel symptoms from the concussion he suffered last month in Los Angeles, and is not close to rejoining the team. ![]() Lilburn native Jeff Francoeur, who's been losing playing time to rookie Fernando Martinez, has informed the Mets he'd like to be traded. "We want to play every day," Francoeur's agent, Molly Fletcher, told the Newark Star-Ledger. "We prefer to play in New York. But if we're not going to play every day in New York, we absolutely welcome the opportunity to play every day somewhere else." The Ny Daily is reporting The New York Mets lost its fourth game in a row last night in the worst way: a walkoff homer by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th after the Mets had rallied to tie it in the ninth. It's looking like Manager Jerry Manuel may come back from this road trip to a firing squad if the losing continues. The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting "Carlos Delgado was back in the Mets' clubhouse Tuesday, dressed in street clothes instead of a uniform, hobbling around on crutches instead of playing baseball. He's hoping that will change later this year, but for now, Delgado is still recovering from his second hip surgery. The Ny Daily is reporting Jason Bay has no homers or RBI in his first six games as a Met and he's struck out seven times in his first 23 at-bats. But he was buoyed by his day Sunday when he says he "just missed three balls." The Ny Daily news is reporting On the verge of long road trip, Jerry Manuel is showing signs of stress. The Ny Daily News is reporting "Most of the lockers in the home clubhouse at Citi Field are beginning to appear lived-in already, filled with clothing, reading material and other belongings. By contrast, Jose Reyes' designated space remains spare and sterile, occupied only by a batting practice jersey and scattered other uniform pieces. The Ny Post is reporting The New York Mets will head into Opening Day with three of their starters on the disabled list: first baseman Daniel Murphy(notes), shortstop Jose Reyes, and center fielder Carlos Beltran(notes), a fact that is causing some fans to have flashbacks of last year's debacle when the entire team seemed to be injured at one point or another. Mlb Daily Dish is reporting The Cubs announced another round of roster cuts today, opting to keep the more versatile Chad Tracy over infielder Kevin Millar. He and Tracy will basically give you the same production at the plate, but the Cubs like what Tracy brings at the corner infield spots, especially if Aramis Ramirez needs more regular rest this season.
