Jake Peavy Rumors
Lately there have been many more rumors floating around about Jake Peavy. The latest rumors have him going to the Brewers or the Cubs. There is an article on each senerio in the read more. Chicago Sports is reporting that because Peavy was not interested in the White Sox does not mean that he is not interested in going to the Cubs. Peavy wants to stay in the NL and go to a contender. The Cubs fit both of those criteria. The hold up is the Cubs management. "but may still be in the Cubs plans if something happens with the ownership transition by the end of July." The San Diego Tribune is reporting that there were many contributing factors why Peavy did not go through with the trade to the White Sox. Peavy Stated “Right now, this is the place for me,”. Peavy would prefer to stay in the NL and going to a White Sox team that is currently 17 - 23 was not what he wanted. Various Sources are reporting that the White Sox and Padres have agreed on a deal that would see the Sox acquire Jake Peavy. Although the two teams have come to an agreement the deal has to be agreed upon by Peavy before the trade is completed. The Brewers have joined the Cubs and Mets in the Jake Peavy sweepstakes. In the competition for the NL Central Division title, the Brewers would like to add a solid veteran pitcher to the mix. The Brewers would love to add Jake Peavy and at the same time make sure the Cubs do not get him “and stealing Peavy out from under the Cubs' noses would be a big coup in Wisconsin”. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Cubs still have interest in Jake Peavy. The Chicago Cubs are waiting to see what the new managements philosophy is to spending money. If the Cubs are in contention in June and July the Cubs could go after pitcher Jake Peavy. “if the need is there and Jake Peavy is still available in June or July, chances are good the Cubs will try to land him.” If trade discussions between the Cubs and San Diego Padres regarding starting pitcher Jake Peavy resume, they could face another snag. The Padres are in the process of being sold to Jeffrey Moorad, with whom they have had sole negotiating rights for the past several months.
