Indians Rumors
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting The Cleveland Indians had been attempting to get outfielder Shin-Soo Choo(notes) to sign a long-term deal in order to avoid arbitration at season's end, but it's looking like no such thing is going to happen, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Mlb is reporting The Indians have made attempts to lock up right fielder Shin-Soo Choo with a long-term contract, but negotiations don't seem to be going anywhere. Mlb.com is reporting with Toronto reluctant to deal Roy Halladay right now teams are looking at Cleveland to make a deal. Cliff Lee could be the prize pickup of the 2009 trade season. MLB.com is posting the players they believe are on the trade block and where they could possibly go this July. Currently the Indians have these players on the list;1. Victor Martinez 2. Jamey Carroll 3. Cliff Lee 4. Carl Pavano Sports illustrated is reporting that the Indians have been fielding offers about Cliff Lee. They have been fielding offers from the Phillies, Dodgers, Mets and Rangers. The Indians want prospects for Lee and it looks like the Rangers have the best group of prospects to offer the Indians. The Rangers have Derek Holland and Neftali Feliz to tempt the Indians. If the Rangers were to trade for Lee they would need the Indians to pick up the remaining 6 million dollars of Lee's 2009 Contract. The Phillies also have some prospects for the Indians, prospect pitcher Kyle Drabek could be enticing for the Indians. The Mets and Dodgers do not have the depth in prospects that the Indians may want to get the deal done. Cleveland.com is reporting that the bad play of the Indians over the past seven weeks has led to trade winds that have been swirling around the Cleveland Indians. It is speculated that Boston is apparently interested in Victor Martinez to take some weight off the slumping Ortiz. Cleveland.com is reporting that there are going to be some changes in the Indians organization. GM Mark Shapiro and Manager Eric Wedge are both extremely frusterated. Yesterday it was reported that Cliff Lee and Carl Pavano were up for trade, while today they are thinking about Anthony Reyes and Fausto Carmona. The Ny Post is reporting that the Cleveland Indians could be looking to move veteran pitchers. The two pitchers in the trade talks are Carl Pavano and Cliff Lee. Indians GM Mark Shapiro could move Pavano or Lee to either the Mets or the Phillies who are looking to add to their pitching. Cleveland.com is reporting that Indians GM Eric Wedges job might be on the line. Wedge is not focusing on what might happen but on winning games he states ""My entire energy goes in finding a way to help these guys get back on track. That takes all the energy I have. So I don't spend time thinking about that. I know it comes with the territory." Cleveland.com is reporting that indians manager Eric Wedge is unhappy with the leadership of his veteran players. This lack of leadership has resulted in a very poor start to the season for the tribe. "It's a long season, but our record is what it is," Wedge said. This lack of leadership does spark some questions about a possible trade or moves.
