Braves Trade Rumors
Some state that Brad Penny to Alanta for Jeff Francoeur is a possibility![]() The Braves already have made moves to augment their rotation, calling up super prospect Tommy Hanson to make his major league debut on Sunday, after summoning Kris Medlen last month. But Atlanta might not be done adding pitching. The Alanta Journal is reporting that the Braves are seriously considering trading Jeff Francoeur to Boston. They are a little reluctant because Francoeur will be a franchise player for whatever team he ends up with. According to mbl.com Chipper Jones is getting ready to sign a 3 year extension that would allow him to finish off his career in Alanta. The terms of the deal are not disclosed but it is believed to last until the end of the 2013 season. AJC.com is reporting that the Braves excess of pitchers give them some trade bait. Team USA third baseman Chipper Jones left the game against Venezuela in the sixth inning on Sunday due to a mild strain of his right external oblique muscle, an injury that will likely force him to miss the remainder of the World Baseball Classic. The Braves, shut out in their quest for Ken Griffey Jr., have agreed to a deal with free-agent outfielder Garret Anderson, according to reports. The deal is expected to be in the $2 million to $3 million range. Griffey signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Mariners, plus incentives. The Alanta Journal is reporting that left-hander Tom Glavine will be back with the Braves after agreeing to terms on a one-year contract that includes a $1 million base salary and up to $3.5 million in incentives, according to two people familiar with the situation. "Tom Glavine is expected to re-sign with the Braves soon, adding the final piece to what could be one of the National League's deepest starting rotations. The one-year contract the veteran left-hander is close to completing would likely include a $1 million salary and bonuses that could push the total to a maximum of between $4 million and $5 million, according to a person familiar with the situation.
